What is Repenting of Sin?

What is Repenting of Sin?

“Repent of Sin.” The Bible does not even contain this frequently used term. The fact that it is absent from the Scriptures shocks most people. The term “repent of sin” to be saved appears nowhere in the Bible. Acts 20:21 does mention “repentance toward God,” “change of mind,” and “faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Greek term “metanoia” is translated as “repentance.” “A change of mind” is what “metanoia” literally means. “Change” is what “meta” signifies. “Mind” is what “Noia” signifies. Thus, a “change of mind” is what “meta-noia” signifies. You are undoubtedly already familiar with a Greek word that has the prefix “meta” before learning about metanoia. “Metamorphosis” is that word. “Morphosis” means “form or structure,” and “meta” means “change.” The transformation a caterpillar undergoes to become a stunning butterfly is referred to as metamorphosis. You have undoubtedly examined this shift of shape (metamorphosis). Therefore, repentance (metanoia) is a change of mind.

To be saved, you must have entire faith in Jesus and believe in the blood He shed on the cross. Believe that He is God in human form, and believe that He paid for all of your sins—past, present, and future—rather than just a portion of them! Have faith that He died, was buried, and rose from the grave after three days and three nights, and He will grant you eternal life in exchange.

Every counterfeit Christian places some of their faith in themselves, some in the Church, and some in Jesus. You will go to hell if you have 99.99% faith in Jesus and 0.01% in anything else. There must be zero faith in you or your church and 100% faith in Jesus and what He accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection; this is crucial information that you must know. (Grace always cancels works!) If it is due to your actions, you will go to hell; if it is due to God’s favor, you will go to heaven, plain and simple.

So who do you trust? Are you relying on Jesus, the lamb of God who was sacrificed to atone for the sins of the world, or are you relying on your own works, goodness, and generous donations to your church to bring you to heaven? Your works are not good enough to get you to heaven; you are saved through faith (trust) and not your works. (Ephesians 2:8) There is no human effort in salvation, except faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as atonement for your sins, past, present, and future. Salvation is a free gift from God.

As soon as you place your trust in Jesus Christ, Yeshua, the King of Kings, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the Alpha and Omega, and the Mighty God, and not in yourself, your church, your synagogue, your mosque, your money, or any other works, you will receive the Gift of God (Eternal Life).
